A former SCDF sergeant, who was then serving his National Service, stole a wallet from a house near Holland Road, when he was sent there to attend to a call there. The SCDF sergeant was named as Navindran Ravichandran, who was a Singaporean PR.
The 22 year old Malaysian was alleged to have taken the $500 wallet containing credit cards and about $250 in cash about two years ago. He has since completed his NS stint. Navindran pleaded guilty to the charge of theft, as well as two charges relating to unlicensed moneylending activities, and another count of impersonating a police officer. he was sentenced to 21 months and 2 weeks jail, six stokes of the cane and a fine of $6,500.
The stolen credit cards was never used by Narendran when he was finally arrested in March last year. This the kind of foreign talent we want to protect our nation?
