An accident at Tuas checkpoint this morning resulted in one death and 16 people injured after a bus collided into a railing. The SCDF was alerted to the scene before 5am and had to use hydraulics to rescue one of the injured.
The bus was on its way to Singapore when the accident occurred. The aftermath left the heavy vehicle lane closed for many while cars heading towards Singapore were diverted back to Malaysia.
Traffic is still heavy towards Tuas checkpoint but as of 10am, the heavy vehicles lane has been opened again. The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority advised drivers to use Woodlands checkpoint instead as the overflowing rush hour traffic has not been cleared.
