A 61 year old pedestrian was killed after he was hit by a taxi at Upper Thomson Road on Thursday morning. Police have arrested the taxi driver for causing a death by negligent act.
Police said that they were alerted to the accident at about 6:30am on Thursday. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics. In a video circulating online, police officers can be seen diverting traffic towards the left most lane, while police vehicles are blocking the other two lanes of the road. A blue tent, normally marking a death, was seen in front of the police cars, and a blue Comfort cab is parked by the side of the road behind an ambulance.
The name of the 61 year old man was not released, and how the accident happened was also not indicated. Police investigations are still ongoing.
