Police have reportedly arrested a 24 year old woman, after a local football club, Hougang United Football Club reported to the police about $250,000 was missing from its accounts in December last year.
The woman was reportedly one of the club's administrative staff, and she was accused of taking the money from the clubhouse and office. The woman had subsequently admitted to the theft. It was understood that the large sum of money was from the club's jackpot operations.
Hougang United is one of six clubs out of nine in the Singapore Premier League that legally runs jackpot machines in their clubhouses. The other five are Albirex Nigataa, Balestier Khalsa, Geylang International, Home United and Warriors FC.
