So the owner's response was posted on sgkaypoh. The owner claimed that he had an alternate plate number, and when he changed it that's when all the problems happened.
"Dear fellow BMW owners, it’s about time I knowledge the owner of the vehicle SLX27E. I’m the owner. Throughout this period I have been keeping my silence and resolving the issue. The fact is that my previous car plate was SKD2772R. And during the period of 2017. A wrong plate was made. During the earlier part of 2018 I bidded and changed my number to SLX27E. On the day of the incident while entering malaysia. I was stopped by the Malaysian police for have chrome reflective plates. After the so call “warning” I was informed that there are more police in front. I do have several sets of my old SKD2772 and SKD27 and also the wrong made plates in my boot. Thus, at the petrol station. I tried to change the plates. However, due to the fuel line blocking. I taken the front 27 and the back 2777 by mistake. I was also looking at the person taking the photos thus didn’t notice I made the mistake. I was only informed about the incident when I was at KL on the evening. And my main concern was to send my Wife safely back to Singapore. Once back in Singapore I personally and immediately when to LTA to admit the mistake. The investigations are still on going. There after, I also decided to come into JB to admit my mistake to JPJ. JPJ decision was that I can still enter malaysia and no actions will be taken against me. However, if I want to clear the issue. I will have to be charged in court. It was a difficult decision however I decided to do so. And informed the officers in JPJ to proceed with the charges. I have no intention to harm or cheat. It’s a hard lesson learned. And I will have to face the punishment. Sorry guys if I have brought shame to the group or the brand. But 27 is a number I will never give up as its the birthday of my daughter. I was also advised by LTA and JPJ to change my number however I state again that I have no intention to cheat Nor harm anyone. It’s sincerely a mistake. Thank you and most remosfully Gordon."
