About 260 people, including children and the elderly folk, were forced to evacuate from their retirement home at the newly opened Kampng Admiralty complex. The fire started at about 1 pm at the building located at 676 Woodlands Drive 71. SCDF confirmed that the fire was started by an electrical device in the storeroom on the fourth floor of that building.
People who were there before the SCDF arrived, helped to put to put the fire out by using dry powder and extinguishers. SCDF also stated that although the elderly folks and children were among those forced to evacuate, no one was injured in the fire.
SCDF are still investigating the cause of the fire.
