MDIS also claims to conduct regular maintenance for their buildings and facilities. They have also called in contractors to inspect the site and conduct a thorough investigation.

Will you be happy that your insurance premium is going up due to a car accident because you are not getting any demerit points? According to one Facebook user, William Lee, a private hire driver (PHV) was ecstatic that they can settle the accident privately and not get any demerit points.

Read the full FB post below:

"The PHV who whacked my taxi from behind in a chain collision wanted to private settle and pay me out of his own pocket. I wasn't too keen to private settle and told him I preferred to report this accident. He then told me that his demerit points are almost there, if report this accident means his driving licence will be suspended and he will not be able to drive anymore. I looked him in the eyes and could see his desperation even though he was telling me in a worried but calm manner.

At that moment, I don't know whether it was due to whiplash from the impact or some other thing, I began to have a headache. There he was still standing next to me and waiting for a favourable response from me to his request and made me more stress. Funny thing was I was even starting to consider whether to private settle and honestly I actually feel for him what would happen if he could not drive and stuck with contracts and things like that... Now his problem becomes my problem!

While I was struggling to think clearly from the headache, a strong cool gust of wind blew over where we were standing. I felt my headache slowly going away. Then it suddenly dawn on me what has this accident got to do with his demerit points? The TP wouldn't be bothered with this type of accident. They'll leave it to insurance to settle. So I turned to him and tell him that we are reporting to insurance, not to TP. Reporting to insurance will not increase his demerit points. Upon hearing what I said, his eyes brightened up a bit. Sensing that this may be his first time involved in accident, I explained to him that as long as no police report is necessary, his points will not increase and insurance will just pay for the damages on my taxi. He asked me to confirm what I said is true. I confirmed it is true.

Straightaway his face was like that of a small child being given a lollipop. I laughed secretly at the changes in his facial expression. I have never seen a guy who is going to be 100% liable for all damages to my taxi look so gratefully happy and talking to me like his own brother like I just saved his life."

At least he isn't getting his license revoked. Always look on the bright side of life amirite? But then again.. If you have that much demerit points already, do you deserve to be on the road?

Here's a heartwarming story of a foreign worker who donated $10 from his meagre salary just to help stray dogs. How many of us are willing to do the same?

Rajendran, an Indian worker made my remaining day smiling non-stop. It was a very heartwarming evening.

Last week while I was doing my stray feeding on the island, I was preparing the kibbles in the feeding bowls for about 8-10 dogs at a feeding spot. An Indian worker who was working just outside the feeding spot saw me & asked me many questions: ‘U feed all the dogs around here ? ‘The food you buy ?’, ‘Food expensive ?’, ‘Everyday feed the dogs?’.

While I was preparing the food I patiently answered all his questions concurrently. ‘Yes we feed the dogs here’, ‘Yes the food quite expensive because we need many many foods because got many many dogs at other areas’, ‘No I don’t have $$$ to buy the food everyday to feed the dogs, all these dog foods are donated by kind people, strangers, sometimes donation not enough we have to buy then we need to ‘beg’ (I used the word ‘beg’ coz I don’t think he understand the word ‘appeal’) people to donate $$$ for us to buy the dog food’. ‘Yes we everyday feed the dogs’.

And the last question he asked was, ‘Can I donate ?’. I replied of coz you can donate brother. I thought he wanna donate his dinner pack. But instead, he went to his locker & took out a piece of $10 & passed to me. I was dumb folded for a split second. For a foreign Indian construction worker who earns that little, he forked out $10 to donate to our shelter. $10 is a lot for labour workers like him but he’s willing to part his $10 to contribute to help our shelter dogs.

Today I just met him again & we waved to each other fr afar & I stopped by to chat a while with him. He said ‘Come feed dogs again ah ?’. ‘Yup’ I said. And then he told me, ‘Sorry today I don’t have $10 with me, I cannot donate, sorry’. The rest of the story I think you guys will know what i said to him. His name is Rajendran, my idol.

Is not the amount that matters, is depending on your financial status how sincere you are when come to part with your $$$ for charity purposes. One who earns $10K per mth donates $50 & One who earns $1200 donates $10. Do the comparison.

Do not belittle & look down on all foreign workers. Yes I agree many Singaporean think is not safe especially when there are many foreign labourers fr India or the Bangladesh. Yes I agree not all are good & kind & feel safe. But isn’t it the same as we Singaporean ourselves? Not all Singaporean are good people & safe to hang around with too.

A man was seen shouting vulgarities at another driver for failing to reverse and give him more space. According to the victim, the incident caused trauma to his 6 month old baby who was in the car at the time.

Why so angry and childish? Are there no better ways to solve the problem?

"The road rage driver was not able to get into the nursery and wanted us to reverse our car to the main road which is dangerous for us. Since there are a lot of trucks plying Punggol East Road. Moreover, we have a 6-month-old baby in the car.

He alighted his car and started scolding vulgarity. After he reversed passed us he suddenly got out of his car and jumped onto ours.

My son is only 6 months old and he got traumatised by this incident. I am really very mad!

I have filed a police report on this incident."

The location is at Sing See Soon Florist and Nursery at 32 Punggol East on 4/8/18 at 1.40 pm.

When our 14-month Toya was diagnosed as brain dead on 29 Jun 2018 by the doctors, our hearts and dreams shattered totally. Toya was pushed into the operating theatre on 21 Jun evening for brain surgery when CTI scan that same evening showed skull fracture and blood clot in his left brain. He was already almost unconscious by the time we reached the hospital that fateful evening. Review is still underway on the cause. By the time I went to pick Toya up, Toya was almost unconscious with signs of vomits. Toya’s grandparents hurried to apply for passports to fly to Singapore to see Toya, but those procedures took time. During the wait, Toya’s body weakened, where milk intake had to cease, while output of body acids increased. We were then not even sure if Toya could hold on to see his grandparents. But he did.

Against all odds, Toya revived, on the day his paternal grandmother and auntie arrived Singapore (3 Jul 2018), which was also the day before we were scheduled to bid our goodbyes.

Toya must have wanted to see his grandparents again.

Toya must have wanted to be with his parents again, just like how much we want to live our lives with him.

Toya must have wanted to live- to play and grow, just like other children he has understood to be.

Nonetheless, Toya has been hit with brain damage, and doctors say it would be a long journey and are not certain how much recovery we can expect. Toya is still in hospital and we are thankful that he is still here with us, in this world.

Neruo-rehabilitation has started, and Toya is improving slightly each day. Once his condition is deemed stable and ready, Toya would have to go for another operation to put his skull back into his head.

Toya’s will to live is evident- this incident had caused him to lose his sight and hearing, but he recently showed slight signs of response and recovery. His left eye however remains closed (complete ptosis). Hypertonia and hyperreflexia, he is still bedridden and still has no purposeful movements. We hope, and pray, fervently, that his recovery will continue to strengthen by each day.

Being foreigners, medical fees are exorbitant and our insurance scheme only covers them partially. As of today (16 Jul 2018), hospital expenses alone have reached $117,047, and still increasing by each day.  Being foreigners, medical fees are exorbitant and our insurance scheme only covers them partially.  We thus have to fly Toya back to Japan  once Toya’s condition is stabilized and once we have a confirmation from the hospital in Japan.  Given Toya’s medical condition, his flight back would be complex and expected to cost $30,000, involving accompanying doctors and continuing medication.  And once we arrive in Japan, Toya would be brought to the hospital immediately in an ambulance.   The operation to return his skull back to his head would be either in Singapore or Japan.  Singapore would be a more expensive option for us (being foreigners), but the doctors here are advising us to do it soon and we still have not gotten a confirmation from  the hospital in Japan.

Toya would need to continue with rehabilitation and medication for some time.  Till when, we don’t know.   Such continuing costs and expenses are thus not known.  But for now, after deducting the insurance pay-out, out-of-pocket expenses are at least $70,000 to cover the immediate cost for the current hospital expenses and flying Toya back home to Japan.

Toya has always been an active and healthy baby, until that fateful day. We moved to Singapore in Jan this year when my husband found a job here. We are not expatriates.  I found a job too in Jun this year to supplement our living expenses. Our stay here has been cut short, but we know Toya’s dreams and hopes to live as a healthy child have not.

Toya’s will to live and to recover must have been so strong. We will thus be ultimately grateful for any support and any amount, that will never be too small for us to help us through and give Toya a chance to be healthy again.

Our heartfelt thanks to you for keeping us in your prayers and for any support rendered to us. We thank you.

It is 2018 but we still see this man making racial insults against another guy who simply wanted to take the lift.

In a video recorded by the victim himself, the unruly man scolded him "fucking dirty", "smelly", and repeatedly cursed at him to get out of the lift: "I don't like take (lift) with him, so dirty smelly, go out!... Fuck off!" He also made irrelevant comments like "I don't like Little India!"

The incident allegedly happened at Changi Airport. What made the man so agitated, however, is unclear. What's his problem with the Indian guy? Why did he have to bring race into the picture? Why was he so worked up?

Thanks to this man, we can no longer proudly declare that we are a racially harmonious country. So throw face la.
