Is it fair to cull animals because of some complaints? Some netizens are enraged as they accuse some town council personnels from poisoning and culling pigeons. How true is this?

In a FB post, Tan Derrick said: "Toa Payoh Town council!! Do you know that by poisoning them is a slow and suffering death to these pigeons? It's inhumane! I believed if the Pigeons can talk, they would have asked you to just kill them immediately rather then they prolonging pain!

Firstly, the complainants, the earth doesn't just belong to you human, everything also complained.

The governing agencies now only like to handle complaints when animals become nuisance, how about we complaint a garden city like ours is having lesser animals? Why is this even a garden city? Filled with so many innocent animals blood?

NParks shouldn't you guys start handling this matter from now? National park board, please do help protect these animals ? They do deserved an equal chance just like human. We are living in the Red Dot and we have too many human, please control. Our Little Red Dot seems like a blood dot now with all the innocent animals killed!"

We can't selfishly expect animals to shut up, but as civilised Singaporeans, we should at least not complain about too many things. As for our town councils, who knows if they're handling it properly? Since someone somewhere always accuse them of "ownself check ownself".

If you have dual citizenship, it's understandable that you are loyal to both countries. But what if you're a PR?

On 14 Aug, a Singapore PR posted a photo in the "Singapore Indian and Expats" Facebook group to declare his loyalty to India. The picture shows a Singapore flag ripped apart to reveal an underlying Indian flag. It had the words: "Phir bhi dil hai..." which translates to "Still my heart is..."

The man was later revealed to be SPR Avijit Das Patnaik who works for DBS bank and thought it was alright to post the picture. Unfortunately for him, many Singaporeans were unhappy that he disrespected the Singapore flag and declared loyalty to another country instead.

DBS has looked into this and assured the public that Avijit was only trying to commemorate India's Independence Day. It claimed that he has taken down his post and shown remorse. The end. Wait, what? That's it?

Yes, DBS did not elaborate on Avijit's future career. As a reputable bank, shouldn't they address everyone on their decision? Did they not see it as a duty to inform Singaporeans of whether they will continue to keep him or sack him? What kind of clarification is this? Did Avijit go over the top or did Singaporeans overreact? Should we give him a second chance?

Parents, don't let your child consume Dumex Mamil Gold infant milk! The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) announced the recall of this milk powder after detecting bacteria in it.

Although the recall was said to be complete, those who have already bought the affected milk powder are strongly advised not to feed it to children. The affected batches are Batch number 09117R1, Expiry – 11 Sept 2019.

More on the bacteria

The bacteria, Cronobacter sakazakii, was found in samples of the milk powder. It can survive dry conditions like in powdered milk and could be fatal to newborn babies. If your child has consumed it, look out for symptoms such as fever, poor feeding or lethargy. Do not panic and seek medical help as these are signs that are quite common for babies.

Hygiene, hygiene, hygiene! Why sabo poor babies?

In a video that has gone viral online, a HDB owner showed how his irresponsible contractors mixed cement with newspapers to build his unit.

The recording clearly showed pieces of newspapers stuffed in between other hard materials like wood and cement. According to some eagle-eyed netizens, it looks like a flat in Tampines.

How can the contractors be so despicable? Are they trying to cheat people's money by using rubbish materials? What are the authorities doing? They better stop these errant contractors from ruining our homes!

It is a sign that Singaporeans are struggling when you see someone selling a bag of air.

A seller/fanboy has taken to the internet to sell a bag of air he "caught" at JJ Lin's recent concert in Singapore. Yes, it's in a plastic bag. Yes, you need to pay.

"Hi guys, this bag contains the air from JJ Lin's first of the four sold out concert at Singapore Indoor Stadium. I caught this air on the 15th of August, 8.55pm. Hit me up if you want the air".

At $10 for a bag, we're not sure if it's a steal. You never know what else is in that bag, maybe someone's bad breath, germs and sweat?

Seems like drivers in Malaysia-registered cars are flouting Singapore's laws by providing point-to-point transport services for tourists here in SG. It is against the law in SG that cars without a Public Service Vehicle Licence, including Malaysia-registered private cars, are used to provide taxi or chauffeured private-hire car services in Singapore.

Apparently, this problem of Malaysian registered cars plying their services here have been around for a long time, and is common knowledge within the industry. In fact, more and more Malaysian cars are seen picking up passengers from Changi Airport, and driving them to their hotel in SG. And these Malaysian cars charge so much less than SG cars going to same pick up and drop off locations.

So, if this is a well known problem, how come the authorities are not acting on it? LTA issued a statement via a local Media outlet last week that all vehicles without a Public Service Vehicle Licence, including Malaysia-registered private cars, are not allowed to provide taxi or chauffeured private-hire car services in Singapore.

They think issue statements like that are enough? Seriously, are the authorities just sitting on their jobs and doing nothing bar issuing statements from their ivory towers?
