According to reports online, an elderly hawker had no choice earlier this year to close his shop early due to lac of staff numbers, that he was forced to work the stalls himself and later suffered a heart attack due to overwork.

According to the same story, the hawker was working at the food court in Changi Airport Terminal 4, which was run by NTUC Foodfare, where he had two stalls. During the Chinese New Year period earlier this year, the hawker requested that he be allowed to shorten his opening hours, as most of his staff were not around for their holidays. However, this application was rejected, with the hawker being told that he faces fines of $500 for each day that he closes. Thus, the hawker decided to run the stalls himself to avoid paying the penalty, working from 5am to 11pm.

Based on the report, the hawker subsequently fell ill on the second day of Chinese New Year and was rushed to hospital, where he passed away. He was diagnosed as suffering from a heart attack, most likely brought about by being overworked.

An SIA flight that was arriving from Hong Kong was diverted to Paya Lebar Airport due to massive congestion at Changi Airport. This led to the flight being delayed for 4 hours. The flight eventually landed at Changi Airport at 11:35pm, when it was scheduled to land there at 7:45pm.

It was reported that some passengers got confused when the Captain of the flight announced that they will land at Paya Lebar Airport. Some passengers to take their luggage from the overhead compartment, thinking that they were disembarking at Paya Lebar. Apparently, even the SIA did not know what was happening, and it was only when relatives on the ground called the airport that they found out that the delay was due to traffic congestion at Changi.

The diverted plane finally landed at the original destination near to midnight, after making the short hop from Paya Lebar to Changi.

A former SCDF sergeant, who was then serving his National Service, stole a wallet from a house near Holland Road, when he was sent there to attend to a call there. The SCDF sergeant was named as Navindran Ravichandran, who was a Singaporean PR.

The 22 year old Malaysian was alleged to have taken the $500 wallet containing credit cards and about $250 in cash about two years ago. He has since completed his NS stint. Navindran pleaded guilty to the charge of theft, as well as two charges relating to unlicensed moneylending activities, and another count of impersonating a police officer. he was sentenced to 21 months and 2 weeks jail, six stokes of the cane and a fine of $6,500.

The stolen credit cards was never used by Narendran when he was finally arrested in March last year. This the kind of foreign talent we want to protect our nation?

In a show of his popularity worldwide, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau was spotted hanging out at Adam Road Food Centre, having breakfast while locals who were there wanted selfies and videos with him.

Based on reports, his team chose the Adam Road Food Centre as it was near where he was staying at Four Seasons Hotel. He arrived early at 7:45am, and ordered lime juice from Adam Drinks Stall. The Canadian PM left the Food Centre at 8am, after completing the rounds meeting up and interacting with locals who were lucky enough to be having an early breakfast there.

Would we ever see our PM interacting so freely with locals at a hawker centre?

Local designer duo ZZ made a Facebook post talking about the mourning pins which they have designed. The mourning pins were meant to be a symbol of respect for the fallen NSFs over the years. The pins had the same pixelated camo prints from our army number 4 uniforms. The pins were also packaged in a similar manner like items you can found in a eMart.

Mourning pins are generally called (xiao) and are normally used at Chinese funerals. Sentiments about the pins were split into two camps - those who felt that the meaning behind the pins were significant and those that feel that they were being disrespectful to Chinese culture.

Facebook user Shannon Lim brought his pet chicken to a KFC at Waterway Point, Punggol. The outlet manager of the KFC requested for Lim to not bring in the chicken as the “Muslims would be offended”.

Lim also tried to explain to the manager that the chicken was not a dog. Furthermore, it is a myth that Muslims are not allowed to touch dogs. You can read more about it here: https://www.muis.gov.sg/officeofthemufti/Irsyad/English-Advisory-on-Guide-Dogs

Lim then complied after trying to explain for a minute and left it outside of the restaurant in it's carrier where he got to watch a group of Chinese, Malay and Indian kids try to steal the chicken and/or take selfies with it.

My only question is.. Why would anybody in Singapore have a pet chicken?
