A NUS professor have been fined the maximum amount of $5,000 and banned from driving for 13 months for driving his Maserati against traffic, just because he cannot wait in line for another car in front of him because that car was too slow.

But, although the law came down hard on him, the Professor, Henry Yeung Wai Chung, must thank his lucky stars that he will earn back his $5,000 in another week's of teaching at NUS, while 13 months from now, he will be able to drive his Maserati again. In the incident that was caught on camera, Yeung's action of overtaking the car, and subsequently a lorry ahead of him by using the opposite lane, caused him to lose control of his Maserati and mounted a kerb. This almost resulted in a head on collision with a taxi on the opposite lane, which managed to swerve at the last minute.

Yeung escaped a jail sentence, as dangerous driving also carries a maximum jail term of 12 months. NUS have not commented on this incident and the sentenced handed to its Porf as yet.

TungLok Group's catering arm has been suspended by NEA on 23 Nov 2018 after 190 people fell ill with Gastroenteritis, an intestinal condition which includes symptoms like diarrhoea and vomiting which can be caused by either a bacterial or virus infection.

The illness was traced to a 1000 bento boxes which were prepared by seven kitchen staffs for Singapore Civil Defence Force’s public exhibition, Lifesavers’ Connect. Food in the boxes include white rice and dishes like vegetables and curry chicken. NEA, MOH and AVA conducted a joint inspection on TungLok's premises after being notified of the incident.

The food handlers at TungLok now has to go through basic food hygiene courses before they can resume their work.

This is not the first food poisoning incident to have occurred in recent months. Just early this month, a food poisoning pandemic from Spize claimed a victim after being in coma.

A man has claimed in his Facebook post that he caught on video two NEA officers who were seen smoking and throwing the used cigarette butts on the floor within the premises of a building. The NEA officers were then alleged to enter the premises of the building to catch smokers who were smoking inside the building, which they had been doing before their little smoke break.

The man who posted the video then said that he also want to summon them, as they are doing as and what they like. In the video, a man and a woman were seen standing outside the carpark of the building, and the man was clearly seen smoking. Both of them were wearing identification lanyards, although it is unsure whether they are from the NEA. Both of them proceeded to enter the building, with the man's hand that was holding on to the cigarette looks free of the butt, once he opened the door.

It is prohibited to smoke at all multi-storey and basement carparks and any area within five metres of ventilation intakes, external windows, openings, entrances , and exits to buildings, as per NEA's Smoking Act. It is unclear if both the man and woman were indeed from NEA. Thus far, NEA have not issued any comments with regards to the allegations on FB.

Facebook netter Joel Tan published a post on 23 Nov 2018 with a picture of a Chinese man in a racial drag. He claimed that the photo came from a "source" who continued to describe what the man did in the drag. Tan accuses the man for doing a racist caricature.

Read below for his full post:

"This photo was sent to me from a source who describes recent Deepavali celebrations at Sports SG. The man in the turban is apparently a pretty high up officer. On top of the racial drag, the source also describes head shaking, random bursts of Tamil, and the handing out of kacang puteh during the celebrations. Let's call this what it is: racist caricature.

People like to think racism doesn't exist in Singapore, but it really does. Not even badly disguised racism: just flat out, balls to the wall insensitivity and grotesque tone-deafness. This is what happens when we collectively agree that "race" is not a Singaporean concept. Or that our multi-racial harmony is well and alive because we don't talk about race, don't acknowledge the racist behaviour of Chinese people, and dismiss those who call out this kind of behaviour as snowflakes, shit-stirrers, and 'racists' themselves. Seriously we Chinese Singaporeans are some of the most consistently racist, racism-denying, and racism-defending people I've ever met.

Also this specific genre of race performance needs to end: why is this caricature of Sikh men so specifically hilarious to Chinese people? In 2015 I remember calling out MediaCorp actor Desmond Tan for posting a photo of himself in a turban and egregious blackface wishing his fans happy Deepavali. Also the numerous times I've seen this "character" played out badly by Chinese actors on local comedy stages. The impersonation is always clownish, ridiculing, belittling.

Please nobody come to me saying their intentions were good and this was good natured fun in the spirit of cross cultural exchange; or that it's an act of endearment. And please let's take a good hard look at this photo and try to square it with the society we think we live in."

Is this really an act of racism? Should the man have been more sensitive toward those from other races? What do you think?

A two year old boy was reported to have fell off from a HDB flat in Senkang on Sunday morning. The boy survived, but is understood to have suffered severe injuries.

Police said that they were alerted to the incident at about 10am on Sunday, about a fall from height at Block 182A Rivervale Crescent. The child was found conscious and was taken to the KK Women's and Children's hospital.

In a video circulating online, a group of people were seen frantically trying to ensure the boy was ok, after he was found lying on a patch of grass beside the HDB block. A huge group of onlookers were also seen standing around.

It is not known what the boy's injuries were, or what caused him to fall. Police are still investigating.

An EDMW netter started a thread to complain that girls are heartless creatures. In the thread the netter said:

"Do u all just feel that girls are heartless creatures juz bcos they think they r pretty? Dis girl used to be my platoon mate in BMT, heard she exit bcos heart problem. Last time got follow each other, now realize she unfollow liao, reply story also never bother to seen me sia. Face 7/10, heart 0/10 jibai"

The netter then continues to bad mouth the girl in the thread and further discussed why she dropped out of army.

Meanwhile, someone sent the link of the thread to the girl. The girl then claims that she has her suspicions on who the thread starter might be. She also claimed that the suspect has been stalking her for a period of time and have even appeared at Pandan Gardens condominium, where she has her ballet lessons, even though the suspect has no reason for being there. The girl ended up blocking the guy off social media because she felt creeped out.

The girl continues to say that she feels unsafe. However, she also felt that she could have handled the situation better and would like to apologize to the suspect.

The girl seems to be very nice and mature about everything. Maybe the guy should stop being such a creep and then blaming her for blocking him.
