A netizen shared how an elderly man was hurt after falling off a stool whose seat came off as it was not secured properly.

From the photos, a man and a woman could be seen helping the old man who was on the floor. The male samaritan seemed to be applying some pressure to the elderly man's head with tissue while the female samaritan cleaned the old man's arm.

This incident took place at a hawker centre that had undergone a two-month renovation.

From the photos of the base of the stool and its disloged seat, it appears that the contractor responsible for fixing the seats was shoddy with their workmanship. Instead of ensuring that the seats were secured properly with screws, the contractor only used glue.

While the netizen did not reveal the actual location of the hawker centre, there was one who speculated that it was in Ang Mo Kio. This is unverified.

Regardless of the location, the contractor has to be held responsible for this injury. Such shoddy workmanship cannot be condoned because it is the public's money that is used to pay the contractors. They need to be answerable to the residents.

How many other stools or tables were fixed in a similarly shoddy way? What if a pregnant lady or a child gets injured?

In case you didn't know, students in school uniforms aren't allowed to play at lan shops.

Instagram user Terenex recently spotted a boy who went around to different shops to ask for cardboard boxes which he would then use to cover his school uniform just so he can play computer games at Parklane Shopping Mall. The boy first tried with two boxes and was rejected entry.

He then tried again with three boxes.

We don't know if the boy finally made it in to play his games. But we do have to give it to him for his determination and creativity.

But boy, maybe next time you can just bring a set of clothes to change into?

We heard about a truck driver picking up a girl on the highway to bring her home after her taxi broke down this morning. Now there's news of another kind deed.

A Facebook user, Melvin Poh, made a Facebook post this morning talking about his experience meeting an amputee security guard. He had all his fingers on his right hand amputated and suffered two strokes and 8 major falls in his life. He was certified permanently disabled and was jobless for years. However, through his determination, he managed to learn to write on his left hand and built up his strength to walk.

He finally landed himself a gig as a security guard and is paid $65 a day. However, he spends about $30 to go home by a taxi service. Hearing this, Poh offered to send him back home every night for just $10 to help him save more money. Poh however, mentioned that he might not be able to do it every night, which is the reason for him to make the post.

Poh asks if there are any other drivers that could help fetch the uncle home at a highly discounted rate. People have since poured in donations and Poh is even thinking of starting a funding page for the security guard.

Kudos to everybody who has helped. We really do need more kindness in Singapore.

A Filipino domestic helper sought advice from the 'Filipinos In Singapore' Facebook group regarding her sleeping arrangements at her employer's house.

fdwabuse

According to the FDW, she was asked to sleep at the bottom, just below some toilet pipes.

Due to the placement of the mattress near to the pipes, she will hit her head against them when she wakes up.

This is very disconcerting.

This does not appear to be outrightly abusive. However, all human beings deserve a proper space to rest as well as for their own privacy.

One hopes that employer's of FDWs in Singapore will do the right think and treat their FDWs with respect as a fellow human being.

On a Reddit post, a Singaporean talked about a kind deed of an uncle picking her up when she was walking on the highway due to a taxi break down after her job interview.

The redditporean was on a taxi back home when the tyres burst. She then decided to walk on the highway. Halfway through, a kind uncle stopped and offered her a ride back home even though she told him to just drop her at the highway's exit. She then decided to try and find him and his family to get him some pizza to thank him for his kind deed.

In the comments, other Redditporeans tried to help give ideas on how to search for the uncle. One of the redditporeans even told her that they work together in the same building!
