A few days ago, Facebook page Bread&Butter posted photos of an elderly tissue seller with the captions: "Jalan Besar CC Staff says they cannot sell Tissue at Lavender Mrt station."

The post has since garnered much attention as some netizens bashed the page for not providing clear details of whether they were indeed working at the CC and how the conversation had transpired.

The viral post triggered a response from MSF Singapore. It clarified that they were staff at the Social Service Office at Jalan Besar who are helping the man with his application for ComCare's Long Term Assistance.

"Our officers were following up by checking on their well-being and assessing how else we can support them.

While Bread&Butter probably meant well, it should not have jumped to conclusions. Perhaps with more verification of information, it will be able to prove itself as a good initiative in helping needy Singaporeans.

Whatever the case, Singapore needs a vigilante team like them to get our authorities moving. Otherwise, there will be more and more people selling tissue paper as a living and more and more social service officers who we can only hope really help them get going.

What on earth is going on to our society? The last we checked, Singapore is a first world country.

A male driver has been arrested by the police after the car he was driving crashed into a bollard at the Marina Bay Financial Centre on Monday evening. 3 women pedestrians and one male passenger was taken injured to the Singapore General Hospital.

The 25 year old man was arrested for causing grievous hurt by a negligent act. It was not known how serious the injuries that the 4 people suffered were, but eye witnesses account said at least one woman pedestrian had to be moved out from under the car. Witnesses also said they heard loud screeching sounds followed by a loud bang and a woman screaming.

It was also apparent that the car had knocked down one metal bollard over the pavement, to indicate how strong the impact of the crash was.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder. That is definitely the case with fast food chain A&W, who saw queues snaking around its newly opened outlet at Jewel Changi, with the longest waiting time reportedly 2 hours just to place an order.

A&W was first in Singapore way back in 1966, but left on 2003. Since then, Singaporeans have gotten their fix on A&W food from neighbouring Johor and Batam, and calls for their return has been heard since they have been gone. Now that they are back with a bang, A&W has announced that they are opening a second outlet in Singapore in June 2019, although the location was not announced. A&W will also open a third outlet by 2020.

The fast food restaurant also announced that they will commence the process to get halal certification by MUIS once the crowds at its Jewel Changi outlet slows down, and that all their food is now actually Muslim friendly. Quite why they waited this long to get halal certification is not known.

A woman pedestrian was caught on video getting knocked down by a taxi at a Jalan Besar junction, even though the green man was in her favour. In the video, the taxi was making a left turn, and it seems the taxi driver did not see the woman, even though it was a bright day, and she was wearing a bright pink shirt.

The video also seems to indicate that the taxi driver, who was in the second land, initially had wanted to turn right, but changed his mind and turned the right signal off from his taxi, and abruptly turned left. This may be the reason why he was not paying attention to his left, and subsequently hit the woman on the left side of his cab.

While the woman fell to the ground upon the impact, the Police, who were alerted to the incident, confirmed that the woman refused being taken tot he hospital. Police are currently investigating the incident.

A group of GrabFood riders from Toa Payoh are winning at life.

Despite their busy schedules, they found time to organise a charity distribution drive to help provide some food to the homeless living in the Toa Payoh and Kim Keat area.

It does not matter what you work as.

These riders have shown that they have more empathy and compassion in them than a lot of other Singaporeans who may be more well-off.

Show some respect.

Yet another shopping mall in SG faced failed mechanisms in the building, after the much publicised waterfall at the new Jewel in Changi. This time, some Tampines One shoppers had the shock of their lives when the bottom steps of a moving escalator collapsed.

The incident happened on Saturday evening, and four people had actually just boarded the escalator when the collapse happened. It was understood that fortunately, no one was injured, and the whole area had been cordoned off. The incident happened between the descending escalator at the third to the second floor of the mall. Eye witnesses said they heard loud sounds from the escalator, before the bottom steps broke apart. The four people luckily reacted quickly to press the emergency button, with serious injuries diverted.

It was also understood that the police and SCDF were not activated, and as of Sunday evening, the escalator was still having repairs. One wonders what is happening to Singapore's malls, facing one breakdown after another.
