The latest MRT map released by the LTA this past week shows that by 2030, Singapore's MRT line will more than double, maybe indicating that the move to accommodate a heavier load of passengers are on the cards, as Singapore moves towards a 10 million population figure.

And it also shows how confusing it can get now when all the lines are operational by 2030. Three new lines are going to be constructed, namely the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL), the Jurong Region Line (JRL) and the Cross Island Line (CRL), while the Downtown Line (DTL), the North East Line (NEL) and the Circle Line (CCL) will have extensions added to the existing routes.

And according to LTA, all the new lines and extensions are expected to be completed by 2030. Makes one wonder with more new lines, will there also mean more news of train breakdowns and disruptions?

A video of an altercation between a Caucasian man and a security guard has gone viral. The two men were arguing with each other over a carpark exit at Roxy Square. The Caucasian was allegedly angry when he got stuck in a carpark while the security uncle was just trying to show him the way.

In the video, the man spouted vulgarities and used his body to block the uncle when he was pointing out the exits. It was uncertain what led the Caucasian to be so angry but he definitely made some snide remarks at the security guard who was just carrying out his duties.

As if that is not enough, the cocky Caucasian man even tripped and hit the uncle towards the end of the video.

Netizens are up in arms about the Caucasian's arrogant attitude and are slamming him for being an ass.

It is uncertain what led up to his anger, but he should have kept his cool at least when the security guard was telling him the way out. From the video, the uncle did not lose his temper or push him in any way.

Will he come forward to shed light on his side of the story? Or is this really another case of bullying by people who think they are high and mighty?

You be the judge.

About 22 students from a residential college at the NUS have fallen ill, with symptoms of gastroenteritis, after having food at the accommodation's dining hall. It was understood that the students affected had dined at Ridge View Residential College on Tuesday and Wednesday.

A source also said that majority of those affected ate food from the Malay food counter. The hall, which is run by Chartwells, also had Western and Asian food options. The students affected said they had diarrhoea and had to seek medical treatment. MOH has confirmed in a statement that 22 students were affected, and one of them had to be admitted to hospital, but is now in a stable condition.

Investigations is being carried out by both the authorities and the NUS, and the kitchens at the college has been closed temporarily as a precautionary measure.

The Singapore Democratic Party will launch its housing policy tomorrow.

In a Facebook post today, the SDP acknowledged the problems many Singaporeans face with regards to housing and promised to come up with ideas to improve lives. It cited an International Demographia Survey which reportedly ranked our housing as "seriously unaffordable."

"To top it off, our flats are depreciating assets" even though Singaporeans are repeatedly told the opposite.

What should Singaporeans believe? That it is ok to struggle to pay off our flats or that it is ok to actually get some help?

The SDP realises an urgent need to fine-tune our housing policy and will be presenting its ideas to attendees at its Ang Mo Kio office soon. The future may look bleak, but at least they are coming up with solutions rather than giving Singaporeans more problems and then telling us it's ok.

A 73 year old taxi driver had been handed a sentence of two weeks jail and disqualified from driving for 24 months, after he crashed his taxi into a centre divider on the road, thus causing his rear seat passenger to be permanently paralysed.

The taxi driver, Gwee Sin Bin, had looked down while driving momentarily to think of a shorter route to take his passenger, 71 year old Mdm Sng Kwee Cheng, to Ang Mo Kio. Gwee had picked Mdm Sng up and was travelling along Hougang Avenue 8 on May 5 last year at about 9pm, when he lost control of his taxi and mounted a kerb on his right, hit the centre divider, a sign and two section of the green railings. Mdm Sng was seating in the rear left passenger seat, and was not wearing a seat belt.

She suffered horrendous injuries, and left her paralysed permanently. She now needs the help of a ventilator and a full time caregiver. Gwee, in his defense, said that he has high blood pressure and also added that he had to take care of his grandchildren.

The lunch crowd at Asia Square's Food Garden were treated to something unexpected during just after the Wednesday lunch hour, as a section of the ceiling at the food court collapsed with a loud thud.

The ceiling collapsed at around 2:30pm, when the lunch crowd had thinned, so fortunately the collapsed ceiling did not hit or injure anyone. Witnesses said staff immediately cordoned off the area, as the whole structure looked unstable and might fall again any time. The management of Asia Square is currently investigating the cause of the incident, while admitting that a small section of the ceiling was dislodged at the Asia Square Food Garden.

The spokesperson also reiterated that staff immediately cordoned off the area, and that no one was injured in the incident.
