A 71 year old woman passed away on 23 March, making her the third person to die from dengue fever in the first three months of the year. The woman was staying in Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4, which was previously an active dengue cluster.

This follows the death of two men, a 77 year old and 74 year old, in February this year also affected with dengue fever. One of the deaths occurred in the Bedok active dengue cluster, while another was at Hougang. NEA indicated that there have been 2,224 cases of dengue so far reported this year. As of Monday, NEA announced that there are 26 active dengue clusters, with the biggest being in Woodlands, Teck Whye Lane and Serangoon Gardens.

There were 5 deaths from dengue related illness last year, with those who died aged from 41 to 75 years old.

An eight storey tall tree was fell by heavy rain and strong winds, toppling into a HDB block in Old Airport Road early on Wednesday morning. Photos of the toppled tree shows it resting up to the tenth storey of the HDB block, with reports indicating that windows were smashed, and some air con compressor were also damaged.

10 units of Block 97 Jalan Dua were affected, with the units on the third and eighth storeys getting their windows smashed. The tree have since been removed, with the Marine Parade Town Council stating that it had contacted the affected residents and will work on them for compensation for their damaged units.

However, some residents still voiced concerns that the costs might have to be covered by themselves, as this incident can be classified as an act of God. The TC is still investigating, and have called on horticulturists to check on the conditions of the other trees in the area.

Opposing voices in Singapore are surely taking their chances to throw jibes at the Government for the lackluster healthcare system. Ranked as one of the most expensive cities in the world, it is unacceptable that Singapore fails to deliver efficient and sufficient healthcare services to its citizens.

More recently, activist and new mother Han Hui Hui revealed that she had approached the Ministry of Health to find out the cost of giving birth in Singapore, but to no avail.

In her exchanges with some netizens, she found out that Singapore's healthcare is not transparent enough and there is also a shortage of services in the country. She speculates that this is because "our population growth rate is not growing proportionately with our healthcare system."

She continues that it does not "put women and child, including a pregnant woman in her 36th week of pregnancy as of any importance due to the inefficiency of the healthcare system."

It doesn't take a mother to realise the shortcomings of Singapore's healthcare. People's Voice Party's Lim Tean also weighed in on the same issue by complaining that the Government does not spend enough in the healthcare sector.

He claims that there is no point in privatising hospitals as everything is going to skyrocket. Till then, will medical subsidies actually help? What then, should they have done to prevent people from falling short of getting the treatment they need? Shouldn't everyone be entitled to healthcare services?

Healthcare is such a basic thing in every country, yet our first world nation seems to struggle with pleasing its citizens. What on earth is the Government doing - are they listening to their people or are they coming up with their own solutions without first understanding the crux of the problem?

As many of you already know, Nas Daily is heading to Singapore. And to celebrate his own arrival here, he is going to have a meet up event on 20th April 2019. The location has not been announced yet but people can start to RSVP on his events page.

It appears to be a free event and anybody can go. Wouldn't it be funny if people turn up at the event with pitchforks and placards asking him to get out of Singapore? That would be a sight to see.

Also, don't you think that he would need a permit to host something like this? We wonder if he has gotten one. Or is he going to hold an illegal gathering? OR would they let this 'future minister of social media' go without one. :O

Dear all,

This post is only visible to people in Singapore.

The rumors are true: my company and I are moving to Singapore!

For the past 1,000 days, we had no place to call home. And after looking at the world map for days and weeks at a time, we’ve concluded that the best place to call home is in Singapore. We just really like the region and the warmth of its people.

We fell in love with the good and the bad – so we’re packing our bags and coming soon.

But this time, we wanna arrive with a bang. We wanna throw a big event on a long weekend for everyone. It’s a great way to meet up in person, make a video together(!!), talk to you a bit about Nas Daily, talk a bit about you, and showcase other talent in the region.

I don’t want your money. It’s a free event. We’ll do our best to make it fun for you – I promise. You just have to show up.

The event will be on the 20th of April, 4 – 6 PM. Venue is yet to be determined but I’ll announce it on the event page. Make sure to follow it for more updates.

See you soon!

For the month of April, IKEA Singapore have announced that they will be having a variety of Nasi Lemak dishes on their menus. For every week in April, IKEA will have a different version of the dish, from chicken chop to fish fillet as its main star of the Nasi Lemak.

Each plate will cost $6.50, and this is the schedule for the different versions of the Nasi Lemak for the month of April:

April 1-5: Nasi Lemak with Chicken Chop
April 8-12: Nasi Lemak with Chicken Leg
April 15-19: Nasi Lemak with Fish Fillet
April 22-26, 29-30: Nasi Lemak with Chicken Cutlet

However, the bad news is that the Nasi Lemak dish is only available during lunch time hours on a weekday, and they are not available at the halal section. For halal Nasi Lemak, must still go get your fix from the makcik at your nearest hawker centre.

Would you expect to see mould around your new house less than one week from moving in? For this sad Facebook user, Newme Joyce, this is exactly what happened.

She received keys to her apartment at Tampines GreenRidges less than one month ago. On 30 Mar 2019, she made a Facebook post with photos of all the mould found in her house. She claims that she have not even done renovation to the apartment and the mould situation is already looking very bad.

You can take a look at the photos on her Facebook post here:
