After Edmund Zhong revealed that he commented that comment for fun and mentioned that it was a matter of freedom of speech (Read more: Man Asked To Lim Kopi For Egg Comment Claimed That He Did It For 'Entertainment'), K Shanmugam revealed on his Facebook page about his side of the 'story'.

Minister Shanmugam revealed that he initially 'laughed it off' when he saw the comment. However the police told him about Zhong's background - how he was an advocate for Cannabis and how he was charged for the use of it in the past. Minster Shanmugam proceeded to reveal all these details and made a passive aggressive statement saying:

I am much more concerned about his public comments, on his FB, on his attitude to narcotics. I hope he does not actually experiment further with cannabis, regardless of how desirable he thinks drugs are.

Netizens are questioning his action of posting this on his Facebook page. They questioned if this will destroy the young man's future and if digging out his history was just Shanmugam's way to cover up/divert our attention from his pettiness towards the comment.

After all, what has egging someone got to do with cannabis?

A fire broke out at the Grand Hyatt Hotel this morning. The fire was reportedly caused by a kitchen stove and a kitchen exhaust duct in a restaurant on the 2nd floor of the building.

People could see thick smoke billowing from the hotel at around 11.30am. The SCDF was activated and as many as 500 people were evacuated to safety.

Fortunately, there were reportedly no injuries. Drivers also had to avoid Scotts Road due to the jam resulting from the fire.

The hotel staff were commended for their professional and helpful response in light of the emergency.

Patrons of the hotel were let back into the reputable building at close to 1pm but many of them had masks on as the smell of the smoke was still lingering.

As you already know, a man named Edmund Zhong commented that he wanted to egg Shanmugam and was asked to lim kopi: Man Asked To Lim Kopi After Commenting He Wants To Egg Shanmugam On Facebook. Soon after, the police also started to investigate another man who commented on the same Facebook post: Police Investigating 2 Men For Commenting About Throwing Eggs At K Shanmugam.

Edmund Zhong, 20, is a full-time national serviceman. He told the Straits Times that the comment was a joke and that he never did intend to commit the act or had any real intentions (obviously). Zhong said that he did it for entertainment and asked if he has any regrets he said:

"To be honest I don’t feel much regret. I feel it’s a matter of freedom of speech, and that we have a right to voice such opinions."

When we read such comments online, we obviously know that they are the work of trolls. They say things for the fun of it, for their own entertainment. Do we really have to be so paranoid and look into what every single person in the world says? And also, is this how we make use of public resources? Isn't our government always telling us about how our public resources are and how we shouldn't waste them? Then why are they doing this? Are they so guilty of doing something wrong that they are afraid that it might really happen to them?

2 men have been arrested by the Police Coast Guard (PCG) in a joint operations with ICA as they one of the men tried to enter Singapore illegally, while the other was a boatman who brought the man there.

Both were found committing the act in Singapore waters near Punggol. A 20 year old Bangladeshi man was seen leaping into the waters as the boat he was in neared the shore, and swam towards land, while the 46 year old Malaysian boatman made a U-turn to return back to Malaysia. His boat was quickly intercepted, and after a short chase, PCG disabled the boat, making it capsize, and arrested the man. The Bangladeshi man was picked up along the shores of Punggol Barat as he tried to scale the fencing along the shoreline.

Both men will face charges in Singapore courts, with jail terms the minimum punishment expected.

Chairman/Founder of HR Matters 21, Martin Gabriel, talked about how bad the current job market situation is in Singapore on his personal Facebook profile. In the post he said:

I don’t usually discuss confidential part of my work so openly, but I think it’s good to alert everyone, how bad the job market is. Recently my client advertised for a junior secretary position for a salary of about 3k plus. What was astonishing was that, even senior Managers and Directors were applying for that position. Most of them, out of work for more than 6 months. More than a 100 applications were received for one position with about 25% of the applicants above 40 years of age and previously held senior positions making much much more than 3k. That’s is how bad the job market situation is in Singapore.

Can you believe that? Senior managers and directors are applying for a junior secretary position. In his comments, he also mentioned that he is expecting to see things getting worse, especially this year, before it gets better.

Needless to say, his post went viral with many Sinkies agreed with him about how bad the situation is now. They also thanked him for this piece of information as our 151 media will never report on how bad the situation is. Our ministers have been telling us for years that things will get better for us. But it does not appear so at all.

Will things ever get better for us? Will our ministers ever fight for us rather than getting more FTs in and giving them jobs?
