A picture (as seen above) of a couple of Public Transport Security Command (TransCom) officers talking to two madrasah students have been making rounds on the internet, alleging that the officers were interviewing the students as they had a quota to hit. Many netizens were angry over this as they thought that they were targeted only for their race.

However, both Singapore Police Force and Madrasah Al-Ma'arif Al-Islamiah has spoken up about the matter on their Facebook pages. The students were only approached by the TransCom officers on the way to school as they wanted to invite them to be a part of the newly launched 'Riders On Watch' scheme.

The scheme is an initiative where volunteers can sign up to be a part of a team that keeps a lookout for suspicious characters or items.

So now that this is out, stop spreading fake news and cause social unrest la.

A female redditporean posted on r/singapore today talking about her plight - a man allegedly following her home after school. She missed an announcement made by her teachers and was only told by her classmates a few days later. The man also allegedly takes photos of the students without their consent.

She has a usual route home which she takes and she always sees a man with his phone and earpiece. After hearing about the announcement, she started taking another route home. However, the same guy appeared at the new route, which scared her to death as he appeared really near to her house.

Other redditporeans quickly asked her to report it to the authorities and her parents. One redditor (likely a foreigner) advised her to get a knife/pepper spray/tasers which met many downvotes from the other netters.

How would you keep your kids safe from such "predators"?

[Serious] I think someone might be following me

Hey r/Singapore, I’m a secondary school student (F) here.

So basically, I walk home everyday from the same route. Over the past few, around 2 years, there’s this guy, he looks like he’s in his 20/30s, who was always sitting at the HDB flat ledge with his phone and earpieces in. He doesn’t seem to have a job either, because he’s sitting there EVERY DAY. Last year, a teacher actually made an announcement about this guy (which I missed) and told us to be careful. My schoolmates apparently told me about it and that he takes pictures of students. I honestly didn’t believe them, so I just kept walking there.

However, I only actually knew about the announcement yesterday. And I got really worried. So I decided to change routes. However, this new route cuts into the old route at the halfway point.

It’s been a week, I was walking home on the new route today and I SAW HIM AGAIN. And god was I scared to death. I quickly took a second detour and got home safely. The scary part is that he was walking around an area which was really close to my house.

TL;DR: Schoolmates told me there was a suspicious guy along the route I took, decided to change routes. Turns out I saw him once again, nearer to my home.

I’m planning to tell my teacher tomorrow. I haven’t told my parents and I’m not planning to. What would you guys do in this situation? I need some advice right now.

A lady went to Padang for the National Education (NE) show on 13 July, along with her parents, her sister-in-law's parents, uncle, as well as her niece and nephew.

They however alighted at Esplanade MRT station when their assigned seats were actually nearer to City Hall MRT.

She didn't count on meeting an angel.

When she approached a group of soldiers for direction, one of the soldiers not only offered to lead them to the correct area, he also carried the little nephew all the way there.

This was a relief for the lady. She reached out to The Singapore Army's Facebook Page to commend and thank the solidier.

According to the lady, the soldier was one "YY Tan" from a Guards unit.

Whoever you are, thank you for showing that our soldiers care for the citizens and will go out of their way to assist them.

What goes around, comes around.

That's what happened to a man today. A cab driver has been sacked after he recorded and shamed a female passenger who had allegedly failed to pay her taxi fare.

If you have seen the video, the cab driver can be heard telling the woman, who appears to be drunk: "I will make you famous."

Dum dum dum. Who is the famous one now?

He even managed to throw insults to a defenseless lady,

"Young, beautiful, but a brain full of water."

Ms Tammy Tan, Group Chief Corporate Communications Officer of ComfortDelGro said that the company has investigated the matter and said the following,

"The way the cabby handled the incident is unacceptable and we have terminated his hiring contract," she said.

"We also want to take the opportunity to remind our cabbies who encounter drunk passengers and fare evaders to not to take matters into their own hands but to report them to the Police and the Company and we will assist them the best we can."

Learning lesson of the day right?

Karma bites back, sometimes quicker than you think.

The rain was heavy today. Many Singaporeans, particularly those who take public transport, may have gotten wet in getting to their destination.

In this weather, some exercise of common sense can really help the commuters.

On this bus service, a kind PRC female driver asked the passengers to alight using the front door because the back door was not fully sheltered.

It was an easy gesture that made life a little easier for the passengers.

There are times foreigners are slammed for importing their loutish and uncivilised behaviour into our country. This female driver shows you that the nationality, and gender, do not matter.
