Police have reportedly arrested a 24 year old woman, after a local football club, Hougang United Football Club reported to the police about $250,000 was missing from its accounts in December last year.

The woman was reportedly one of the club's administrative staff, and she was accused of taking the money from the clubhouse and office. The woman had subsequently admitted to the theft. It was understood that the large sum of money was from the club's jackpot operations.

Hougang United is one of six clubs out of nine in the Singapore Premier League that legally runs jackpot machines in their clubhouses. The other five are Albirex Nigataa, Balestier Khalsa, Geylang International, Home United and Warriors FC.

With the uproar recently about the 99 year lease HDB flats, and the fact that these flats are actually on the second half of the lease, the government have come under fire recently as Singaporeans realised that their HDB flats will be worthless in the resale market in the next few years.

Even worse, Singaporeans are waking up to the fact that they are not actually owners of their own flats but they are just tenants. So, any opportunity to talk up a good point to short term leases will be grabbed by the State Media. And so it proved, as the media have trumpeted about how 9 out of 10 elderly buyers of two room flexi units are opting for shorter leases. And they even termed this scheme as popular.

But of course, nobody looks on the flip side. For one, of course the elderly would want to buy a small house, as they are cheaper then the bigger houses, thus the ability to take short term lease. For these elderly folks, this is no longer about investment, but basically having a roof over their heads until the day they die. And this also is only beneficial if these folks actually have a healthy balance in their CPF. To those elderly folks who still collect cardboards for exercise, think they can afford?

More needs to be done for the elderly folks, and the media has a part to play in not making everything seem nice and rosy, when in actual fact they are not.

Children are young, innocent and naive. Does this hold true in our society today?

A man was delivering food at Clementi when a boy from the next door unit started scolding him for touching his plants. A while later, when the man was leaving after completing his delivery, the boy ran out and shouted vulgarities before sprinting back into his house.

Annoyed, the man went to knock on the boy's door but was conveniently ignored by the boy and his parents even though they saw him standing there.

The outraged deliveryman was stunned by how wrong parenting can get and how parents are letting that happen in Singapore. "Pls do teach ur Son properly for his behaviour coz it reali disgusting e way he is nw n for his future sake! Pls share it out for me guys coz I nit e parents of tis boy to see tis n noe tis is nt e way to teach ur kid!!!!"

Is he just one bad egg or are children nowadays getting out of hand? What can parents do about it? What can Singaporeans do to raise awareness so that parents are willing to do something about it?

Many of you will remember the viral incident during December last year, of a cyclist who was knocked down by a lorry driver after he smashed the lorry driver's side mirror.

This time, we do not know the cause of their aggression. This incident allegedly happened at Eunos.

In the video, the lorry driver can be seen trying to scare the cyclist by moving the lorry near to the cyclist, which caused the cyclist to gesture at the driver angrily. The driver then tried to drive even nearer to the cyclist which caused the cyclist to carry his bicycle off the road. As the cyclist tried to walk away from the lorry, the driver rushed out of the lorry with something in his hand and chases the cyclist down to confront him. The cyclist then punched the driver in the face which resulted in the driver falling onto the floor and sitting in a daze. The cyclist then carries on his way.

If you have more information on the incident, let us know!

An accident at Tuas checkpoint this morning resulted in one death and 16 people injured after a bus collided into a railing. The SCDF was alerted to the scene before 5am and had to use hydraulics to rescue one of the injured.

The bus was on its way to Singapore when the accident occurred. The aftermath left the heavy vehicle lane closed for many while cars heading towards Singapore were diverted back to Malaysia.

Traffic is still heavy towards Tuas checkpoint but as of 10am, the heavy vehicles lane has been opened again. The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority advised drivers to use Woodlands checkpoint instead as the overflowing rush hour traffic has not been cleared.

SDP was supposed to host their campaign kick-off on 23 February 2pm at 115 Eunos Ave 3, in an auditorium which is supposed to be able to host 200 audiences, operated by Kingdom Community Church Ventures Pte Ltd. However, on the night before the launch, SDP chief Chee Soon Juan posted a notice on his Facebook talking about the venue change. In it he wrote:

We spent the entire day trying to persuade the company to honour its contract but to no avail. After some frenzied searching, we found another venue at Mandarin Orchard. We are the SDP, we never say die.

You can read the full post by Chee Soon Juan here:

On SDP's website, they noted that they were informed of the cancellation by the venue operators due to reasons such as "JTC inspection" and political reasons.

After this post on their website, JTC became sensitive about the issue writing:

The Singapore Democratic Party (“SDP”) alleges it was forced to change the venue of its Kick-Off Event at the last minute because the owner of the original venue cancelled the event, “citing ‘JTC inspection’ and political reasons”.

It is factually wrong to link the cancellation with JTC’s inspection. JTC had no prior knowledge of the above SDP event. This was a private arrangement between SDP and the venue owner.

You can read the full post by JTC here:

However, SDP made a Facebook post which showed that the venue operators were the one who cited 'JTC inspection' and political reasons as the reasons for the cancellation. They even included an excerpt from the email sent to SDP by the operators:

This is the complete text of the email from Mr Shawn Ling of SLVHub (managed by KCC Ventures) sent on 22 Feb 2019 at 11.35 am:

“Dear Mr Jufri (SDP Organising Secretary),

My deepest apologies as we need to cancel all our events for 23rd Feb 2019 Saturday as we have a last-minute unforeseen JTC Inspection.

They also asked JTC to "also clarify whether it has any policy barring political events such as the one we held yesterday from its premises." Read the full post below:

SDP has been getting their events canceled left, right, center. First it was Dr Chee's cancellation of venue for his book launch and now this. However, they have a good team which managed to bounce back both times and find a new venue for their events at the very last minute. What they're worried about is right, is there a "abuse of contracts and agreements signed with opposition parties"? And also, why was JTC so sensitive when SDP merely conveyed what was said to them by the venue operators? '

Welps.
