Irvins Singapore, which made the news as recently as December when their Salted Egg Fish Skin chips came with a deep fried lizard, is showing in earnest that they are ready to move on in 2019. They recently posted on a job hiring website for the position of quality control inspector.

Although nothing of the job ad mentioned whether the quality control inspector need to specifically check for lizards, it did indicate that they have to work closely with the QC Manager to ensure quality of their products. The potential employees should also have at least a year's of experience in the food manufacturing industry working in the quality control sector. And to ensure good quality products are pushed out, potential employees are told to expect working overtime, Saturdays and even doing shift work.

The ad did not say of the position was a newly created one within the company, or as a replacement due to recent events.

When it rains, it pours. This seem to be the case for Singapore's airlines, as a SilkAir flight became the latest to face safety issues. A SilkAir flight bound to Singapore from Chiang Mai had to turn back and land at Chiang Mai, due to a suspected hairline crack on a cockpit window.

As a result of the precautionary measure, passengers on the flight were delayed for more than 10 hours before they returned home safely to Singapore. The flight was scheduled to reach SG by 3:35pm yesterday, but as the engineers needed time to address the fault, a replacement plane had to be dispatched to Chiang Mai to bring the 146 passengers and crew back to Singapore. This new flight was expected to land in SG at 2:30am on Wednesday.

This delay followed hot on the heels of another Singapore airline, Scoot, having its flight turned back to Changi Airport because of a fault with its weather radar component.

Whoever said it's difficult to get lost in a small country like Singapore is very wrong.

A 18-year-old Malaysian teenager who was working in Singapore got lost in late December last year. He was last seen at a HDB block at Sturdee Rd but has since been found.

Apparently the young Malaysian Chinese, who was in Singapore for the first time, got lost because all the HDB blocks look the same to him. He was staying at his friend's house and was on the way to eat at a nearby coffeeshop when he could not find his way back. The boy did not have his phone with him.

Being an introverted guy, he did not dare to ask anyone for directions. He reportedly slept at void decks until he ran out of money and resorted to begging.

He was eventually discovered and sent back to Malaysia.

Let's hope he can find a better job and way in life.

Many of us Singaporeans love to go overseas to take time off from work and just relax. We go to nearby South East Asian countries such as our neighbour Malaysia, Thailand and even Vietnam as services such as massages are much cheaper in these countries as compared to Singapore.

However, local influencer Shiberty might have regretted her decision to get massaged in Vietnam. She went for a massage on New Years Eve in Vietnam only to get molested. She did not release the story until now in fear of dampening everybody's holiday spirit.

A male masseuse allegedly molested her during the service and even continued to do so after she asked him to stop. The alleged molester was daring enough to do it even though her boyfriend and a female masseuse were in the same room.

The massage parlour was introduced to her by a follower. Shiberty claimed that everything was great up to the point where she got molested.

Let this be a lesson to all of us to be careful. Even though a place might have good reviews, it does not mean that bad things might happen. All it takes is one black sheep to ruin your experience.

In another blow to Singapore's air space aspirations, a proposal for Singapore's F15 fighter jets to train over New Zealand airspace on a long term basis have been cancelled. This followed a two year discussion between Singapore and New Zealand.

A December 2018 news report in New Zealand indicated that the plans were cancelled due to the excessive costs involved. The training facilities were supposed to have been located at Ohakea, in Manawatu on the North Island. While the MFA issued a statement conforming the cancellation of the proposal, they did not specify the reason for it, but did say that Singapore and New Zealand will continue to explore other opportunities to cooperate on defense and security issues.

Singapore currently have a detachment of F15s which is based at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho, USA.

A plate of roasted duck drumstick with rice costs a minimum of $5 nowadays. Would you be willing to buy it for cleaners? A netizen, Daniel Koh saw a man (dubbed oyster man for selling oyster omelettes at Whampoa market) giving 3 away to a cleaner.

What made it more amazing was that the drumsticks were originally supposed to be for his own dinner as Koh saw oyster man sitting down to finish the rest of the food left in the box. This act of kindness touched the heart of Koh and he took the story to social media which touched the hearts of many others as well.

Have you seen any other acts of kindness? Let us know!
